High-End Hotels and Resorts
Our favorite high end resorts, luxury boutique hotels etc. in the area.
1. LALOON Luxury Suites

⭐️ RATING: 9.7/10 Stars on Booking.com | 10/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Ultra-private ocean-view luxury, honeymoon energy, sunset plunge pools
If you’re looking for a romantic, adults-only escape in Santa Teresa, LALOON Luxury Suites is one of the most intimate stays in town. It is located on a hillside just above the main road and delivers on sweeping Pacific Ocean views, private plunge pools, and a peaceful setting.
The overall aesthetic is modern tropical luxury. Think, clean lines, natural textures, and wide-open views.
Why It Stands Out
Every suite comes with a private in-suite pool overlooking the ocean. That alone puts it in a different category from most Santa Teresa hotels. Add in the elevated location, strong privacy, and adults-only atmosphere, and it’s ideal.
Amenities
- Infinity saltwater pool
- Private in-suite plunge pools
- Daily à la carte breakfast
- Concierge service
- Massage services available
Good to Know
The property sits on a hill, which means incredible views but you’ll want a 4×4 or ATV to get around easily. It’s adults-only and designed to be serene. It is not a social or party-style stay.
Our Opinion
We love LALOON for the peaceful adults-only vibe. It’s also perfect if you don’t want to be directly in the chaos of Santa Teresa town and beach.
For us, the biggest downside is that there is not a restaurant. That means you have to drive every time for dinner, but there are mini kitchenettes in the rooms if you want to at least keep some food in a fridge.
2. Hotel Nantipa

⭐️ RATING: 9.0/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9.40/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Barefoot beachfront luxury, boutique Blue Zone escape, refined but relaxed
If you want to stay directly on the beach in the heart of Santa Teresa, Hotel Nantipa is one of the strongest luxury options.
This hotel is set right on the sand in the middle of Santa Teresa. It blends laid-back surf culture with elevated design and high-end hospitality.
Basically, it is barefoot luxury done well.
Dining & Wellness
Manzú Restaurant is an open-air, beachfront restaurant. It is known for Costa Rica-inspired cuisine with locally sourced ingredients and craft cocktails.
Numu Wellness Center offers open-air spa treatments using local ingredients like papaya and avocado. Expect massages, scrubs, wraps, and wellness experiences.
There’s also a beautiful saltwater pool, yoga offerings, and curated experiences around Santa Teresa.
Good to Know
- Santa Teresa overall is one of the most expensive beach towns in Costa Rica, and Nantipa reflects that.
- The beach directly in front of the hotel is rocky in sections, so swimming may require walking a short distance up or down the beach depending on tides.
- Breakfast and dining are high quality but priced accordingly.
Our Opinion
We love that they have a variety of accommodation options that can suit all group sizes.
You also can’t beat the location. From the hotel, you can easily walk to all the delicious restaurants in town.
For us, it’s basically the ideal place.
3. Vista del Alma

⭐️ RATING: 9.6/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9.8/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Elevated jungle luxury, panoramic sunset views, private pool villas
If you’re looking for ocean views, total privacy, and a more secluded luxury stay in Santa Teresa, Vista del Alma delivers.
This hotel is located above Santa Teresa on a hillside. It features just 10 oceanfront villas. The villas are named after crystals and semi-precious stones (which were placed beneath the foundations). It adds a subtle spiritual and grounding theme to the property
Villas & Layout

- Cocktail bar & curated wine list
- Room service

Good to Know
- The resort sits on a steep hill. A 4×4 or ATV rental is strongly recommended.
- It’s not walkable to town.
- There’s no full-service dinner restaurant on-site.
- Santa Teresa overall is expensive, and this is positioned as a boutique luxury stay.
Our Opinion
We think Vista de Alma is ideal for couples, honeymooners, and travelers who want privacy, panoramic ocean views, and a peaceful luxury experience away from the noise. Plus, we like that it is adult-only.
Mid Range Hotels
4. Nala Luxury Living

Vibe: Chic jungle apartments, walkable location, boutique-luxury meets long-stay comfort
If you’re looking for a stylish, apartment-style stay in Santa Teresa that feels elevated but not overly resort-like, Nala Luxury Living is a strong contender.
The property is located just a few minutes from Carmen Beach and tucked slightly off the main road.

The team is also known for being extremely responsive and helpful, especially when coordinating tours, transport, restaurant reservations, or even last-minute needs.

We love this complex because it features the amenities of a hotel, but the privacy of your own apartment and the option of cooking in your private kitchen. The location is also great with many restaurants and the beach within a short walk.
5. Hotel Santa Teresa by the Beach

⭐️ RATING: 9.2/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9.4/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Polished beachfront boutique, central but comfortable, easy beach access
If you want to be steps from Playa Carmen while staying somewhere modern, clean, and full-service, Hotel Santa Teresa is a strong contender.
The property was fully renovated in 2023 and the hotel blends updated design with classic beach-town energy. It sits just about 50 yards from the sand, meaning you can walk to the beach in under a minute.
Rooms & Layout
Room categories include:
- Standard Double with Terrace
- Deluxe King with Balcony (Ocean View options available)
- Deluxe 2 Queen Rooms
- One- and Two-Bedroom Apartments
Ocean-view balcony rooms are especially popular if you want that little extra Santa Teresa vibe without paying ultra-luxury prices.
Amenities
- Swimming pool with loungers
- Included Costa Rican breakfast (fresh fruit, coffee, made-to-order dishes)
- Beach and pool towels
Good to Know
- It’s centrally located, so while rooms are generally soundproofed well, you are in town rather than tucked into jungle hills.
- Santa Teresa overall is a pricier destination, and this sits in the upper mid-range category.
This is not a secluded luxury retreat — it’s an extremely well-run central boutique hotel.
Our Opinion
We think that if you want to step outside and be on Playa Carmen within minutes, walk everywhere, and still return to a clean, modern room with breakfast included, this is one of the easiest and most reliable choices in Santa Teresa. There are really no negatives in our mind.
6. Fuego Lodge

⭐️ RATING: 9/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9.6/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Lush garden hideaway, walkable location, relaxed boutique comfort
If you want to stay in the heart of Santa Teresa but tucked away from the dust and traffic of the main road, Fuego Lodge is a really solid mid-range option.
This family-owned property sits at the end of a quiet lane surrounded by tropical gardens. It feels peaceful and green while still being convenient.
The property itself feels like a small rainforest oasis. There are gardens, palms, a clean central pool, and a covered rancho-style space where yoga sessions and breakfasts take place.
It’s simple, comfortable, and well run.
Rooms & Layout
Fuego Lodge offers a range of accommodations.
Rooms are modern, clean, and equipped with A/C, Smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and daily housekeeping. Some units also include full kitchens.
Amenities
- Central swimming pool surrounded by gardens
- Daily housekeeping
- On-site yoga and Pilates on the jungle deck
- Massage and wellness treatments available
Good to Know
- This is not a luxury resort. It’s more boutique garden lodge than high-end beachfront stay.
- Children 10+ are welcome.
Overall, it’s a comfortable and convenient base rather than a destination property.
Our Opinion
We love Fuego Lodge for its location and variety of accommodation options. They have rooms that are perfect for couples and places that can also fit up to 7 guests.
I love that the property is close to all the best that Santa Teresa has to offer, but feels like a secret jungle oasis.
7. Lua Villas

⭐️ RATING: 9/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Jungle oasis near Playa Hermosa, modern tropical design, peaceful and polished
If you want to stay slightly outside the busiest stretch of Santa Teresa while still being close to the beach, Lua Villas is a beautiful option near Playa Hermosa.
Lua has a relaxed, slightly elevated feel without being overly formal or luxury-priced.
Accommodation Options
Lua offers villas, apartments, and studios.
All are surrounded by greenery and designed with natural materials and thoughtful finishes.
This makes it a strong option for couples, digital nomads, or small families who want kitchen access and a bit more space.
Amenities
- Beautiful central swimming pool
- Hammocks throughout the property
- Dedicated yoga deck
- Lush landscaped gardens
Good to Know
- You’ll likely want a rental car or ATV if you plan to go back and forth to central Santa Teresa frequently.
- Hermosa Beach is known for strong surf. It is great for experienced surfers but, not ideal for swimming conditions.
Our Opinion
We have stayed at Lua Villas a few times and have always had a great time. I love the property and villas.
The only downside could be the location, depending on what you are looking for. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but you will need to drive to all the action in Santa Teresa.
8. Ventura Santa Teresa

⭐️ RATING: 9/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9.4/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Modern surf-town boutique, social but polished, unbeatable Playa Carmen location
If you want to be steps from the beach and right in the action of Playa Carmen, Ventura Santa Teresa Hotel is one of the best-positioned stays in town.
Ventura sits directly on the main strip of Santa Teresa. That means restaurants, cafés, surf shops, and grocery stores are all within easy walking distance. It’s central, convenient, and ideal if you don’t want to rely on an ATV or car.
This place leans into clean, modern design with strong “Pura Vida” energy.
Rooms & Layout
Ventura offers several room categories ranging from compact budget-friendly rooms to larger terrace and balcony suites. Rooms are modern and minimalist.
Amenities
- Small plunge pool
- On-site restaurant (Aroma)
- Surfboard rentals & surf lessons
- Tour booking assistance
- Laundry service
Good to Know
- It’s located on the main road, so light road noise is possible.
- The plunge pool is small. It’s more for cooling off than lounging all day.
Why We Love It
We think Ventura Santa Teresa is perfect if you are looking for a stylish and contemporary stay close to the beach.
It is a great place to stay if you want something with boutique vibes but at a reasonable price point. Plus, the restaurant is good.
9. Altamar

⭐️ RATING: 9.1/10 Stars on Booking.com | 9.8/10 on Expedia
Vibe: Modern sunset apartments, quiet but central, infinity-pool evenings
If you want a clean, modern apartment in Santa Teresa that’s close to everything but feels tucked away and peaceful, Altamar is a really strong option.
Altamar offers that ideal balance: you can walk to restaurants and surf spots, but return to a quieter, elevated setting with sunset views and a beautiful infinity pool.
This is more “stylish vacation apartment” than full-service hotel.
The infinity pool is also a highlight here. It’s large, clean, and positioned perfectly for watching the sunset.
Apartments & Layout
Altamar offers studios and one-bedroom apartments.
The kitchens are functional and allow for easy breakfasts or simple meals.
Several units offer ocean views from the terrace, and wildlife sightings (monkeys, iguanas, birds) are common.
Good to Know
- This is not beachfront. You’ll walk a few minutes to reach the sand.
- There’s no on-site restaurant, spa, or concierge desk like a resort. This is a self-contained apartment-style stay.
Why We Love It
We love this place for the hotel amenities but with the features of an apartment. The apartments are all clean and modern as well as equiped with everything you need. The shared pool is excellent as well.

Tips for Finding the Best Place to Stay in Santa Teresa
- Book Early: Santa Teresa is a very popular beach town. It is always a good idea to book early to secure the best places at great price points.
- You will want a place with air conditioning here. This town is very warm and it typically doesn’t cool off too much at night. Plus, during the rainy season the humidity can be a lot.
- Check VRBO as well: VRBO is our favorite site for finding private vacation rentals throughout Costa Rica. In Santa Teresa, you can find a lot of nice houses with private pools, cozy bungalows, etc.
⤷Search Santa Teresa vacation rentals on VRBO here - Pay Attention to Amenities: Some amenities to consider include kitchen facilities, swimming pools, and if breakfast is included.
- Consider Location: Think about what you want to be close to. If you will not have a rental car it is a good idea to stay directly in the downtown area so you can easily walk to the beach and restaurants. If you want a more peaceful experience you might opt to stay on the beaches north of town or in the jungle above town.
