Our Glamping Costa Rica Tips

– Glamping can be done year-round, but this is an accommodation option we personally prefer during dry season. Even during the rainy season, it is rare on the Pacific coast that it rains during the night (except for in August – November), but still, it is no fun to have all of your stuff get wet.

– We suggest renting a car if you plan on taking a lot of day trips on your own or would like to travel a lot around the country. We work exclusively with Adobe Car Rental, a local Costa Rican company. If you would like to book through our site you can get a 10% discount plus other great perks.

Our #1 Car Rental Choice

Adobe Rent-a-Car

  • 10% discount for Costa Rica Vibes readers
  • Free second driver
  • 0% deductible on Liability Protection Insurance
  • Excellent customer service
  • New fleet of well-maintained vehicles

– If you plan to rent a car it is best to ask your glamping destination for info about the roads before booking something. A lot of these places are located in the hills above towns. That means that they may be located up dirt roads and you may need a 4×4 to access the location.

– If you do not want to rent a car, you can check out all the shared shuttle options or book a private transfer to your destination.

– Keep in mind that the mosquitos can be bad in Costa Rica in the evenings. Make sure to always keep your tent and any mosquito netting over your bed closed up tight. Also, definitely pack bug spray. We also like to bring these coils to burn if we are sitting outside to keep the bugs away.

– On the topic of bugs….there are lots of creepy crawlers in Costa Rica. Hopefully, they won’t get into your tent, but you never know. If you are very sensitive to that, glamping in Costa Rica might not be the best accommodation option for you.

– There can be very high humidity in Costa Rica. In other words, nothing ever dries. I feel like this can be even more of an issue when glamping because your suitcase is less protected from the elements. I suggest packing as many fast-drying clothes as possible.

Conclusion

In conclusion, glamping in Costa Rica is a great way to experience the natural wonders of the country while still in luxury.
