Why We Like It: We have stayed at other Böëna properties throughout Costa Rica and know that they are a great hotel company. Their Tortugua Lodge & Gardens property definitely lives up to their typical high standard of service.
The one major downside is that this hotel is on the other island. You will need to take a boat to get to the downtown area with other restaurants and the national park.

There are two negatives though. This hotel is a lot more remote than some of the other places on this list so you will need to take a boat to get to downtown Tortuguero. The other downside is that it can be on the higher end as far as rates go.

Why We Like It: I like the rustic but modern feel to Aninga Lodge. I also love that it feels so jungle-y here. The biggest negative is that you will need to take a boat to the downtown area of Tortuguero.

The downside is that the facilities are quite basic, but they provide everything needed for a pleasant stay. Also, you will need to take a boat to get to the downtown area.

There are two negatives. You will need to take a boat to reach the downtown area and there is no air conditioning here. There are electric fans in each room, but on very hot nights it doesn’t fully alleviate the heat problem.
