1. Hotel Nya
⭐️ RATING: 8.9/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
Escape to the serene embrace of Hotel Nya, a breathtaking design oasis nestled within a lush tropical garden.
This hotel, crafted by Central American architects, features a whimsical blend of modernity and tranquility.
Our Opinion
We love that you can immerse yourself in a restorative retreat here with carefully designed rooms, a lush jungle garden setting, and a modern pool.
This hotel is also in a great location, on the edge of the downtown area and just minutes from the beach.
2. Casitas Sollevante Boutique Hotel
⭐️ RATING: 9.0/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
This hotel is tucked away in a private oasis where lush forests meet the endless blue of the Pacific Ocean.
Here you can choose from a variety of cozy accommodations, including rooms, studios, houses, and villas. All accommodations are adorned with vibrant decor and essential amenities like refrigerators and coffeemakers.
There is also an excellent restaurant-lounge bar that serves dishes from hearty breakfasts to fresh sushi crafted with the day’s catch.
Our Opinion
We like this place because of the wide variety of room options, the excellent restaurant, and the beautiful views. This place really feels like a retreat.
The one downfall is that it is not directly on the beach. Instead, it is in the hills above Montezuma.
3. Casa Frangipani
⭐️ RATING: 9.6/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
At Casa Frangipani there are lush gardens and an inviting outdoor pool amidst breathtaking views of the rainforest and ocean.
This property consists of private villas. Each villa boasts a private terrace, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Our Opinion
We always love a place with the amenities of a hotel but the seclusion and private kitchen that comes with a vacation rental. This place perfectly checks all of those boxes.
4. Adeluna Luxury Villas
⭐️ RATING: 9.7/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
Adeluna Luxury Villas is nestled in the heart of Montezuma with panoramic views of the sea.
Each of the five one-bedroom suites boasts a well-appointed layout with stunning ocean vistas and access to an infinity pool.
Our Opinion
We love that this place consists of only five villas that are designed to fit two guests each. It feels very secluded.
The downside is that there isn’t a restaurant on the property. The road here is steep and not well maintained. So, every time you want to eat something you will need to drive into town on that road. That gets a bit annoying after a while. However, the seclusion is definitely part of the charm.
Also, there are kitchens in the villa properties, so you can always cook your own meals instead.
5. Ylang Ylang Beach Resort
⭐️ RATING: 5/5 Stars on TripAdvisor | ✅ Book it!
Ylang Ylang Beach Resort is a family-owned gem renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and unparalleled hospitality. This hotel is located just a short stroll from downtown Montezuma amidst lush beachfront surroundings.
Here you can immerse yourself in relaxation at the jungle spa or unwind by the tropical pool.
The resort also has an excellent restaurant that is open throughout the day. All stays include breakfast and dinner daily.
Our Opinion
We think very highly of Ylang Ylang Resort. In fact, we considered having our wedding here.
The location is perfect, directly on the Montezuma beach where you can walk for hours. We also love the restaurant here.
The rooms are a bit rustic for the price, but I really think it is all part of the charm of this place.
Mid-Range Hotels in Montezuma
Here are our favorite hotels for mid-range stays in Montezuma.
6. Jungle Lodge at Wild Sun Rescue Center
⭐️ RATING: 9.4/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
The Jungle Lodge at Wild Sun Rescue Center is nestled amidst lush surroundings. The lodge offers an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, and a serene garden.
Just note that this lodge is not located directly in Montezuma. It is south of town in Cabuya.
Each room features air conditioning, a desk, and a private patio boasting stunning sea views. A delicious breakfast is served daily and includes vegetarian, and vegan options.
Our Opinion
We love how peaceful it is here. It feels like the perfect secluded retreat with a eco-friendly feel. Plus, it is just a short drive from Cabo Blanco Reserve and the beautiful Cabuya beaches.
The one downfall is that it is somewhat secluded. There are not a lot of restaurants within a 5-minute drive. Plus, the roads around this area are unpaved (but well packed down and frequently driven).
7. Jodokus Inn
⭐️ RATING: 9.4/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
Jodokus Inn is a hidden gem nestled in the hills of Montezuma. The hotel features a shared lounge, barbecue facilities, and a shared kitchen.
With a total of 6 rooms, Jodokus Inn offers accommodations for up to 12 guests.
Our Opinion
The rooms here are a bit outdated, but they are equipped with everything you need and the price is very fair for what you get.
We love this place for the location, the massive property, the shared kitchen, and the kind staff.
8. Hotel El Jardin
⭐️ RATING: 8.7/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
Hotel El Jardin is situated in the heart of Montezuma town center and is just steps away from the beach.
Each room offers a private terrace, desk, and fridge, with some boasting garden views for an extra touch of tranquility.

Our Opinion
We love this place for several reasons.
- The location is perfect. The hotel is right next to the beach and the downtown area, but also feels very secluded.
- We love the property here. The two pools are very nice and the grounds are well-maintained with tons of tropical plants.
- The staff are great and will make sure that you have an excellent stay.
The one downfall is, besides the one-bedroom bungalow, none of the other rooms have cooking facilities. However, they all feature a mini fridge, so you can at least keep drinks or some food items cold.
Budget-Friendly Hotels
If you are backpacking through Costa Rica and are looking for a bed in a hostel or just need a more affordable place to stay, these options are for you!
9. Luminosa Montezuma Hostel
⭐️ RATING: 8.7/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
This hotel is directly on the Pacific Ocean and is a mere 10-minute walk away from the downtown area.
The hostel offers three dormitory rooms and one private room, all equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Here you can enjoy the convenience of a fully-equipped communal kitchen, complimentary coffee, and free WiFi.
The dormitory rooms range from 3 to 10 beds and there is a secure luggage storage to ensure your belongings are safe until check-in. Plus the friendly staff are always on hand to assist with any questions or recommendations.
Our Opinion
This is by far the best budget-friendly hostel option in the area. The location can not be beat and the staff are amazing. We really have nothing bad to say about this place. Sometimes I think it could be a bit cleaner, but I think they do their best.
10. Luz En El Cielo Eco-B&B/Hostel
⭐️ RATING: 9.1/10 Stars on Booking.com | ✅ Book it!
Whether you seek ocean bliss, jungle exploration, or Montezuma’s eclectic charm, Luz en el Cielo B&B offers a welcoming haven for every traveler.
This place offers a wide variety of accommodation options from beds in shared hostel rooms to private bungalows.
Our Opinion
I recommend this place for the hostel option. If you are looking for a bungalow or regular hotel room, I think one of the other places on this list would be better suited for you.
The mixed dorms though, are perfect for budget travelers.
The other downside is that it is located out of the downtown area. If you are a backpacker without a rental car this will be a bit inconvenient for you.
