1. Arenal Volcano National Park

It is not possible to climb to the top of this volcano, but there are plenty of hikes around the base with great views

Alternatively, you can enjoy the view while relaxing in a hot spring, hiking on hanging bridges, or zip lining over lush jungle.

Located in La Fortuna. This area is great for jungle adventures such as zip-lining and rafting

2. Irazu Volcano National Park

The top of Irazu is some of the highest elevation in Costa Rica. It is possible to visit the top of this volcano

Make sure to look out from the top. On a clear day you can see Turrialba volcano erupting in the distance

Irazu is located in the city of Cartago. It is not far from the capital city of San Jose.

3. Poas Volcano National Park

Poas Volcano is one of the most visited national parks in the country. You can visit the top and the views are great!

Just note that this is an active volcano so, sometimes it is closed due to eruptions and you may need to wear a hard hat.

Poas is located above the city of Alajuela. It is an easy visit from the San Jose International Airport.

4. Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Rincon de la Vieja is an active volcano with great hiking trails.

This is also a popular area for zip lining, white water rafting, and relaxing in hot springs.

Rincon de la Vieja is located in the northwest corner of the country near the Nicaragua border.
