San Gerardo is a cloud forest village. It is not heavily visited, but it is still a great place to travel.
San Gerardo is located in the central part of the country. It is easy to get here from the San Jose area or Dominical/ Uvita on the Pacific coast.
The most popular thing to do here is to go birdwatching. This area is home to the resplendent quetzal.
This area is almost always cold and rainy. Pack warm clothes and rain gear.
You've got to eat some trout while you are here. It is locally caught and most of the restaurants serve up unique trout meals.
The best hotels are Hotel Savegre and Hotel de Montana Suria. There are several great vacation house rentals as well.
