Here is what you can expect from the weather in Costa Rica in December by region....
December is part of the rainy season for the Caribbean coast. The rain usually comes in short showers, often in the late afternoon or evening.
December is a gateway month. The end of the rainy season gives way to sun-drenched days of great weather
The Central Valley tends to get really windy in December but there is little to no rain.
The early part of the month may still witness occasional rain showers, but these decrease as the month progresses.
This area tends to have a more extended green season. Occasional showers, especially in the afternoons, are still possible.
During the early part of the month, you might still experience some residual rains from the rainy season, but it becomes drier as the month progresses.
Monteverde (being a cloud forest) can still have misty and drizzly conditions. The higher elevation means cooler temperatures.
