Cocos Island is a remote island on the Pacific Ocean.  This is part of the Costa Rica national park system.  This is considered one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world.

How to Visit Cocos Island

In order to visit Cocos Island it is necessary to take a multi-day liveaboard boat trip.  The island is located over 300 miles off of Costa Rica’s coast.

Most live-aboard scuba diving tours last for about 10 days and include 2 to 3 dives per day around the island's waters.

The dry season (mid-December until end of April) has the best weather  The rainy season (May until mid-December) mean almost daily rain in the afternoon.

The Best Time to Visit

We suggest planning your tour for mid-July. Usually the rain stops briefly. This is also  when hammerhead sharks are at their peak.

Did You Know There Might Be Buried Treasure on the Island?

There are multiple claims of buried treasure on Cocos Island but none has actually been discovered. Treasure hunting is not allowed.
