The Falls Resort
The Falls Resort
The Falls at Manuel Antonio is one of those places that feels like a little jungle hideaway, but you’re still right in the middle of everything.
The hotel sits up on the hill in central Manuel Antonio, close to some of the best restaurants, bars, and shops, and just a short bus/taxi ride (or ~10–15 minute walk, depending on where you go) from the beach and Manuel Antonio National Park. On the property itself, it’s all lush gardens, a beautiful pool, wildlife, and a relaxed, boutique vibe.
Add in Medusa Restaurant, their on-site international-fusion spot that locals actually go to as well, and you’ve got a very easy, very enjoyable base for your time in Manuel Antonio.
Location: Manuel Antonio
The Falls feels like a green, tropical bubble tucked just off the main road.
- The pool and gardens are the star – guests repeatedly describe the pool area as feeling like it’s right in the jungle.
- You’ll probably hear or see monkeys, birds, and other wildlife during your stay.
- Staff get a ton of love in reviews: friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful.
It’s not ultra-fancy or over-designed; it’s more comfortable, welcoming, and quietly stylish. A great place to unwind with a cocktail after a hot day at the beach or park.
Rooms & Layout
Rooms are spread through tropical gardens, so most feel quite private and green. Decor is a mix of modern + natural touches – teak furniture, warm tones, and big windows or French doors that open to terraces or corridors.
All rooms include:
- A/C
- Cable or smart TV
- Mini-fridge
- Coffee maker
- Private bathroom with hot water, hairdryer, and toiletries
- Wi-Fi
Here’s how the room types break down:
Jungle Bungalows
Recently remodeled bungalows tucked toward the back of the property.
- King-size bed
- Flat-screen smart TV
- Mini-fridge
- Garden views and a very “jungle-y” feel
These are a great pick if you want that “in the gardens” vibe and a bit more privacy.
Deluxe Rooms
Comfortable, stylish rooms with a bit more space.
- King-size bed
- Sofa bed
- Modern bathroom with hot water
- A/C + ceiling fan
- Mini-fridge
- French doors opening to a furnished corridor with garden views
Ideal for solo travelers or couples who want a step up in comfort. Can fit a third person for an extra fee if needed.
Double Queen Deluxe
More spacious rooms designed with families and small groups in mind.
- Two queen beds (some can add a 5th guest for a fee)
- Private bathroom with double-sink vanity
- A/C + ceiling fans
- Mini-fridge
- TV
- Garden-view rooms open to the furnished corridor overlooking the gardens
There are also street-view Double Queen rooms, which are the most affordable option and located closer to reception and the road. They’re convenient but don’t have the garden views and will feel a bit less “retreat-like,” so that’s a good trade-off to keep in mind.
La Casita (Jungle Bungalow 6)
A fully renovated, standalone jungle bungalow.
- King-size bed
- Private bathroom
- A/C + ceiling fan
- TV, mini-fridge
- Private furnished patio with garden views
- No shared walls – it’s 100% separate from other rooms
Perfect if you want privacy + jungle views, and you’re traveling solo or as a couple.
3-Bedroom Apartment Suite
A great option if you’re traveling as a family or group and want more of a “home base” setup.
- Bedroom 1: Queen bed + private bathroom
- Bedroom 2: Queen bed
- Bedroom 3: Two twin beds
- Spacious living room with dining area and TV
- Fully equipped kitchen
- A/C
- In-suite washer and dryer
- Accommodates up to 6 guests
This apartment is located at the front side of the hotel, off the main road, so it’s super convenient for coming and going, but will feel less tucked into the gardens than the interior rooms.
Medusa Restaurant & Bar
On-site dining here is a big plus.
Medusa Restaurant (formerly The Falls Garden Restaurant) is an international-fusion spot with:
- Fresh Costa Rican seafood
- Peruvian and international classics
- Healthy options
- Creative cocktails
- Modern boho decor surrounded by gardens
It’s named for the Spanish word medusa (jellyfish), as a nod to the ocean just down the road. The menu is chef-designed and has built a following with both locals and travelers, which is always a good sign.
What to expect:
- Great breakfast (guests mention it a lot)
- Delicious cocktails and a popular happy hour by the pool
- Mostly excellent dishes; one guest did note that a chicken stew wasn’t their favorite, but loved the other plates like sirloin and tuna risotto
Overall, this is a place where you actually want to eat at the hotel, not just because it’s convenient.
Amenities
The Falls does a nice job of feeling like a mini-resort without being huge or overwhelming.
You’ll find:
- Infinity-style pool surrounded by jungle gardens
- Lounge chairs + chill common areas
- Breakfast included (fresh, tasty, well-reviewed)
- On-site Medusa Restaurant & bar
- Happy hour
- Concierge/front desk help with tours, transport, etc.
- Bordering Manuel Antonio National Park, so lots of wildlife around
Guests frequently mention the amazing pool area, the gardens, and how easy it is to relax here between adventures.
Location
The Falls is in central Manuel Antonio, up on the hill:
- About 5 minutes by car or bus to the national park entrance and beaches
- Around 10 minutes on foot to many restaurants and shops (and you can walk down toward beach/park if you don’t mind the heat and hills)
- Right on the main road to Manuel Antonio, so it’s very easy to catch buses or shuttles
This is a great spot if you want:
- Easy access to the best restaurants and bars in the hilltop area
- A short ride down to the beach and park, without staying right in the busy entrance zone
Little Things to Know (Real Talk)
A few honest bits based on guest feedback:
- Some guests found the mini-fridge quite loud at night – easy fix is to unplug it if you don’t need it running while you sleep.
- Screens on windows would be a nice upgrade in some rooms to help keep bugs out if you like to open things up.
- A couple of bathrooms could use a tiny bit of “practical tweaking” (e.g., shower head angles causing water to spray everywhere, not many hooks to hang clothes/towels).
- As with many places in Costa Rica, you might wish for a bit more space to hang and dry wet clothes.
None of these are dealbreakers, but they’re helpful to know so you’re not surprised.
What Guests Love
From recent reviews, people consistently rave about:
- Super friendly staff – often mentioned by name
- Very clean and tidy rooms and grounds
- Beautiful gardens and a jungle-feeling pool area
- Delicious breakfast and good restaurant food
- Spacious, comfortable rooms (especially Deluxe and garden-view types)
- Relaxing atmosphere that still feels close to everything
Many guests say they’d happily stay here again, which is always our favorite sign.
Why We Love Recommending It
We like The Falls at Manuel Antonio for travelers who want:
- A boutique hotel with a “jungle oasis” vibe
- An excellent on-site restaurant (Medusa) so you don’t always need to go out to eat
- A central hilltop location near other restaurants and services
- A nice balance of comfort, style, and value without going into full-on luxury pricing
It’s one of those places where you can easily spend a lazy day: breakfast → pool → happy hour → dinner at Medusa → bed, with monkeys and birds somewhere in the background.
