Cool Waters
Cool Waters
Jungle-y cabins and apartments tucked in the hills above Uvita, with a big pool, walking paths, and lots of nature all around.
Town: Uvita | Class: Mid-range jungle hotel with cabins and apartments
Cool Waters feels like a little jungle retreat just outside Uvita.
The property is spread out across a hillside with walking paths, hammocks, and a stream running through it.
It’s the kind of place where you can hear birds and monkeys, relax by the pool, and still be a short drive from the beach and Marino Ballena National Park.
Location
Cool Waters is set back from town in a quiet, green area a few kilometers from central Uvita and the beach.
We really suggest having a car here. You don’t need a 4×4, but a car makes it much easier to get to restaurants, shops, and the national park.
Parking is available on-site.
Check availability. This spot is popular with nature lovers and families, especially in dry season ↓
Rooms & Layout
Cool Waters has a mix of rooms, cabins, and apartments, so there’s a setup for just about every style of traveler. Options range from simple deluxe rooms for one or two people, to ground-floor apartments with kitchens and big decks, to larger multi-bedroom houses that can fit families or groups.
Most units include air conditioning, private bathrooms, and some type of outdoor sitting area or balcony.
Many of the apartments have kitchenettes or full kitchens with a fridge, stove top, and basic cookware, which is great if you want to cook some meals.
The overall look is rustic and practical rather than fancy, but guests often mention that the rooms are clean and comfortable once you settle in.
On-Site Dining
There’s no full restaurant on-site, but several units have kitchens or kitchenettes.
Uvita’s restaurants and supermarkets are a short drive away, so it’s easy to stock up on groceries and then head out for dinners when you want a break from cooking.
Why Guests Love It
- Peaceful jungle setting with lots of walking paths
- A big pool that’s great for cooling off after the beach
- Helpful, welcoming owners and staff
- Spacious apartments with well-equipped kitchens
- Decks and hammocks that are perfect for relaxing and listening to jungle sounds
Heads Up (Real Talk)
You’ll enjoy this place much more if you have a car. The walk into town is long and along a busy road, so it’s not ideal on foot, especially with kids or in the heat. The property is built on a hill, so some paths are steep. That adds to the beauty but can be a bit of a workout.
Some guests have mentioned small housekeeping details, like kitchen areas that could be cleaner on arrival or not having enough places to hang clothes in certain units.
The pool area can get busy with families and kids on weekends.
Our Take
We like Cool Waters for travelers who want a jungle-style stay with room to spread out, rather than a standard hotel room in town.
It’s especially nice at the end of a trip when you just want to slow down, sit on a deck, and enjoy the calm.
The combination of nature, pool time, and easy driving distance to Uvita Beach and Marino Ballena makes it a solid choice if you’re comfortable having a car and don’t need high-end finishes.
