We love to visit all-inclusive resorts in Costa Rica when we are looking for a chance to relax and have everything included in our stay.

Since moving to Costa Rica in 2016 we have visited several different resorts throughout the country and have a good understanding of which resorts are the best to visit, what to look out for when booking, and which resorts you should avoid.

We created this guide to help you plan the perfect all inclusive stay that meets exactly what you are looking for in a luxury Costa Rica experience.

Location

The W Costa Rica is located on Playa Conchal. This beach is continuously voted as the nicest in Costa Rica. It is secluded, beautiful, and has perfect waters for swimming or snorkeling

The Vibe

I would call this place relaxed luxury. The vibe seems friendly and approachable with a refinement to it. 

Personally, I think the interior design team at this place did an amazing job. I love how they incorporated so much wood throughout without making it seem dark. 

I also think you can’t beat the location here for a relaxed getaway in Costa Rica.

For all you gold enthusiasts, there is a golf course, putting green, and driving range at Reserva Conchal. This is an 18-hole course with views of the Pacific Ocean designed by Robert Trent Jones II. 

Golf is not included in the all-inclusive rate. However, this is a private course and staying at the resort gives you the ability to book a tee time. 

Off Site activities

From Conchal, it is possible to go on a catamaran tour, try SUP, go snorkeling or diving, take a day trip to Palo Verde, and more!

Who it is Best For

We think this resort is best for families with older children, couples, or friends who are looking to play golf. Younger kids are allowed, but the vibe is definitely a bit more refined.

How to Book All-Inclusive

By default, this is not strictly an all-incusive resort. You will need to add on the all-inclusive package.

To do that, select your date and room and you will need to toggle to “Deals and Packages” instead of “Standard Rates”.

2. Secrets Papagayo All Inclusive – Adults Only

Secrets Papagayo is an adults-only all-inclusive resort. We like this place for its breathtaking views, luxurious amenities, and proximity to the Liberia International Airport.

Location

Although this resort is called Secrets Papagayo, it actually isn’t located directly on the Papagayo Peninsula. The resort is located next to the small beach village of Playa Hermosa, near the Papagayo Peninsula.

• Unlimited luxury experience with 24-hour room service, daily refreshed mini-bar, and more.

Who It is Best For

We think this is perfect for couples who are on their honeymoon or just looking for a relaxing getaway in a secure and scenic beach location.

Why We Like It

As a married couple without kids, this place is kind of our dream. It is nice to enjoy a resort experience with only other adults, eat delicious food whenever you want, have plenty of activities to do nearby and have a really short drive from the Liberia International Airport.

How to Book the All-Inclusive Option

This resort is completely all-inclusive. So, there is nothing special you need to add to your reservation to include the all-inclusive option.

3. The Westin Golf Resort & Spa

Get ready to experience the charm of Costa Rica at The Westin Golf Resort & Spa! This place is a haven of serenity and luxury, surrounded by stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. 

Location

The Westin Golf Resort & Spa is located in Playa Conchal in the Guanacaste Province. This beach village is located just north of Tamarindo.

Location

Planet Hollywood is one of the few resorts located directly on the Papagayo Peninsula

If you are traveling with kids, this place will be so much fun for the entire family. We also love that it is a new resort with top-notch design and amenities. It’s just an all-around great place to be.

Off site activities

Papagayo Peninsula is a great jumping off point for tons of adventure. For a fun day trip we suggest a catamaran tour with snorkeling or a visit up to Rincon de la Vieja National Park.

This resort offers rooms and suites which can sleep up to eight guests. 

In other words, if you are a small family there are options for you, or if you would like to travel with another family there are two-bedroom suites with pool table, balcony, and hot tub.

Location 

El Mangroove is located on Playa Panama which is a relaxed beach just north of Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste. This resort is about a 20-minute drive from the Liberia International Airport. 

The Vibe

The grounds here are beautiful. You feel so secluded in luxury here. Plus, you can’t beat the location. It is only about 20 minutes from Liberia International Airport. We like that it has a boutique hotel feel to it. 

Amenities

The property has two restaurants, a spa, a well-equipped fitness center, beach access, a beautiful pool, and more!

Rooms

El Mangroove offers a variety of rooms and suites which can sleep between two and four guests. All rooms are modern and done up nicely.

6. Riu Guanacaste

Location

RIU Guanacaste is located on Matapalo Beach. This is just south of Playas del Coco and north of Playa Flamingo

The Vibe

This is one of the most popular and largest resorts in the country. If you want the full all-inclusive family resorts in Costa Rica vibe, this is a good option. 

It is located next door to its sister resort, RIU Palace.

We find it a bit too big for us, but with an active family who wants to all do different things, we think this is a really good pick. 

Amenities

24 hour a day all-inclusive, three swimming pools, a water park, daily entertainment, volleyball courts, tennis courts, fitness center, resort spa, beach access, free diving lesson in the pool, kayaks to use.

The daily entertainment includes: 

• Daytime entertainment program for children ages 4 to 12 (daily)
• Daytime entertainment program for adults (daily)
• Riu evening program or live music (daily)
• Theme parties for guests of the Riu Resort, once a week
• Access to the “Pacha” discotheque (open 6 nights a week)

Rooms

Rooms range from basic rooms to two-bedroom suites which can sleep up to six guests. Most of the rooms are somewhat simply designed and not overly fancy. However, you probably won’t be spending too much time in your room anyway. 

Dining

This is an all-inclusive resort which means all meals, snack and drinks are included in your stay. There are multiple on-site restaurants and dining experiences you can choose from. T

hese include a buffet restaurant, “La Toscana” Italian restaurant, “Furama” Asian restaurant (with a sushi buffet), a steakhouse restaurant, and “Tucán” which is a gourmet restaurant.

There are also five bars including a swim up bar. 

Who We Suggest it For

This is 100% for families! We love an all-inclusive option for a family trip, plus this place has activities for everyone. And, your kids will definitely love the waterpark. RIU Guanacaste is also a bit more budget friendly than some of the other resorts in the country.

This resort is completely all-inclusive, so all reservations will include the all-inclusive plan.

7. RIU Palace

Location

RIU Palace is located on Playa Matapalo, south of Playas del Coco

Vibe

This is a large beach front resort that has something for everyone. If you are debating between this resort and RIU Guanacaste, I would choose the palace if you are traveling without young children. RIU Guanacste has more to offer for kids.

8. Dreams Las Mareas

Location

Dreams Las Mareas is located in La Cruz (just north of Liberia in the northwest corner of the country).

It’s a short drive from the resort to Santa Rosa National Park and Guanacaste National Park.

• You can enjoy the world-class spa which offers rejuvenating treatments
• The concierage can organize water sports, hiking, and local wildlife exploration for adventure enthusiasts

Who it is best for

Dreams Las Mareas is the perfect destination for travelers who want a mix of tranquility, luxury, and adventure.

We like it because it is kind of remote. There is not a whole lot around besides the rest, but I think that is definitely part of the appeal.

I suggest this spot for foodies, couples, and people just looking for straight up relaxation.

9. Margaritaville

Margaritaville is a Jimmy Buffet inspired resort with a focus on relaxation, good vibes, and fun.

Location

This resort is located in Playa Flamingo on the Pacific Coast just north of Tamarindo. The beach here is often considered one of the nicest beaches in the country. 

The Vibe

I guess the best word to describe this place is “fun”. You will never run out of things to do here. Everyone in the family will enjoy it. And we love that they give the option to add the all-inclusive package, or not. The choice is yours! 

This is not a formal luxury resort. It is ver laid back, as Jimmy Buffet would want. 

Amenities

Multiple restaurants, multiple bars, tennis courts, daily scheduled activities, covered kids pool, pools, a spa, beach access, and more!

Our favorite thing to do here is to participate in all the daily scheduled activities which are included in your stay. These activities include exercise classes, painting classes, table game tournaments, and more!

Dining Options

There are several on site restaurants and bars. They are:

Banana Wind Cafe:

• Cuisine: Coastal Central American flavors with seafood, grass-fed beef, and organic ingredients.
• Menu includes fresh fish Ceviche, Classic Fish Sandwich, traditional platters like Arroz con Camarones, and house-made desserts.

Capriccios Pizza Bistro & Cafe:

• Menu features flatbreads, gourmet pizzas, pasta, salads, and Italian desserts.

5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill:

If you decide to go for the all-inclusive plan, here’s what you’ll get:

10. Pacuare Lodge by Böëna

Pacuare Lodge is a completely different resort experience than all the other places on this list. Also, this place provides full board rather than all-inclusive. So, drinks are not included. But, tons of other cool amenities are included.

Read on to get an idea of what you can expect at this absolute gem of a place. 

The Vibe

The main focus of Pacuare Lodge is white water rafting. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t still thoroughly enjoy this place if white water rafting is not your thing. 

Keep in mind that they allow families to visit with children over the age of 7. They do not allow children under the age of 12 to participate in rafting. 

This is the place to go if you want a completely unique nature experience with the luxury of an eco resort. 

We suggest spending three to four nights here to fully embrace it.

Note: Keep in mind that there are a few other places nearby with similar names. Make sure you are booking Pacuare Lodge by Böëna when you arrange your stay. 

Getting Here

It is not possible to drive to the lodge.

You will need to park your car or take a bus to the town of Siquirres. From there you will be transferred to the lodge by either raft or ground transportation.

Yes, even getting here is a fun adventure! 

Alternatively, the resort provides transportation from Hilton Garden Inn, Park Inn, and Grano de Oro Hotel in San Jose.

The food here is excellent and there are a wide variety of meal options for all dietary needs and taste preferences.

Azura Beach Resort is located in Samara, Costa Rica. This nice beach town is located about 1.5 hours south of the Liberia International Airport.

12. The Retreat Costa Rica

I’ve got to preface this by saying I’m kind of obsessed with The Retreat Costa Rica. It’s the perfect boutique hotel. I’ve been waiting for a chance to take my sister here because it seems like the perfect place for a fun girls getaway. 

The Location

Atenas, Costa Rica. This is a jungle/ valley town that is located less than an hour away from the San Jose International Airport.

The Vibe

This is a small resort (only 18 rooms) with a boutique feel. There is a focus on wellness here with delicious clean foods, yoga, meditation, and pure relaxation.

Dining

Most meals are plant-based cuisine, but the restaurant also features locally and sustainably raised fish, poultry, beef, and lamb options.

The dietary approach excludes grains and dairy, except for occasional servings of goat yogurt and cheese.

Refined sweeteners are avoided in favor of wholesome, unprocessed alternatives.

Guests can find vegan and vegetarian choices available at any meal.

Who We Suggest it For

I suggest this for a couple that is interested in reconnecting with themselves and eachother through relaxation and wellness. 

It would also be a great place for a girls trip or solo travelers.

13. Lapa Rios Lodge by Böëna

Location

Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula

The Vibe

Lapa Rios is located on a 1,000 acre nature preserve. If you are looking for a luxurious eco lodge filled with wildlife, near a beach, and near Corcovado National Park, this is a great option.

Just note that only children over the age of six are welcome here. 

Amenities

– Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included daily. 

– Guided property tours

– Access to the pool and property

On site activities

Relax in the pool, get an in room spa treatment, explore the property on your own or with a guided tour, go birdwatching, take a night tour, learn about medicinal plants in the area. So much to do!

The beach is located just below the property. You can easily walk there (but the hike back up is a bit much) or they will happily drive you down and set up beach chairs for you. 

Off site activities

There are tons of things to do nearby from exploring the Corcovado National Park to sport fishing. The wonderful staff at Lapa Rios will be happy to set up any tours for you. 

Rooms

This is a small lodge with only 17 rooms.

There are three types of bungalows available at Lapa Rios:

Deluxe Bungalows- Sleep up to 4 guests. The bungalow has a nice outdoor deck with great views. Not that these bungalows do not have AC.

Premier Villas – Large space with bed, living room area, indoor/outdoor bathroom, and large deck. This option can accommodate five people.

Lapa Villas – The most luxurious option, this villa has a bedroom, living room, large deck with small infinity pool, and indoor/outdoor bathroom. This option can accommodate five people.

Just note that the internet is accessible in all rooms by fiber optic cable, but wifi is available in the main building of the resort.

Dining

There is one restaurant located on the property where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily. This is included in the room rate. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased separately.

The restaurant is happy to accommodate any allergies or health requests.

It is also possible to attend food demonstrations or organize a private romantic poolside dinner.

14. Hacienda AltaGracia

Hacienda AltaGracia resort opened in late 2021 and has quickly risen to be one of the top resorts in Costa Rica. Since its opening, numerous celebrities have stayed here including Zac Efron and Emma Roberts.

Location

This resort is located in Pérez Zeledón. This is a jungle destination south of San Jose. 

The Vibe

Hacienda Altagracia is a world-class, five-star, luxury resort. Expect service to be on another level of perfection. 

Amenities

This resort is all-inclusive (not including alcoholic beverages). Every room comes with a personal experience designer, transportation from and to the Perez Zeledon Airport.

Horseback riding, hiking, birdwatching, wildlife tours, mountain biking, yoga classes, cultural experiences, and so so much more!

Off site activities

This is not a place where you will likely leave the property. There is just so much to do on-site!

I suggest embracing all that they have to offer on-site and saving other exploration for another part of your visit to Costa Rica.

The hotel is located in Naranjito. It is in the jungle about 10 miles north of Manuel Antonio. Keep in mind that you will need a 4×4 vehicle to get here.

The Vibe

I wouldn’t really call this place a resort. It is more of a rustic and approachable hotel that has the option of adding all meals to your stay. 

Off-Site Activities

Although this hotel is located in the jungle, it is a short drive to Manuel Antonio. I definitely suggest visiting the nice beaches here and hiking at the Manuel Antonio National Park. 

Rooms

There are multiple room options that range from double rooms to a two bedroom house with small kitchen.

Dining

The on-site restaurant service delicious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

Who We Suggest This Place For

If you are looking for a more authentic Costa Rican experience in the jungle with a mix of adventure and relaxation, this is a good option for you. It is not luxury, but it is genuine and amazing.

16. Occidental Papagayo – Adults Only

Location

This resort is located just north of Playa Hermosa on Playa Panama. It is about 20 minutes away from the Liberia International Airport by car. 

The Vibe

Occidental Papagayo is an adult-only resort run by the Barcelo group. In our opinion, this resort is a bit outdated, but the price point is much more reasonable than some other all-inclusive resorts in Costa Rica. 

Also, this is a large resort with 162 rooms, so there are always things to do here. 

Ammenities

Fitness center, spa, two pools, a nightclub, kayaking, tennis courts, volleyball, water aerobics, and more!

Dining

There are three restaurants and four bars on the property. These include an Italian restaurant, an Asian fusion restaurant, and a snack bar. 

Who We Suggest it For

We suggest it for couple who are interested in an adults-only all inclusive experience at a reasonable price point.

17. Kinitiri Glamping Resort

Location

Kintiri Glamping is located in the jungle town of Nicoya. 

The Vibe

Kintiri is a glamping resort. All “rooms” are dome-like structures on raised platforms. They are all beautiful and secluded.

I think this is a great option if you are looking for a unique experience and just want to reset.

I would suggest this to couples.

Dining

The on property restaurants serves up delicious meals daily with an emphasis on local ingredients.

This is not an all-inclusive resort, however, you can add on breakfast, lunch, and dinner to your booking. Just make sure to select this option when making your reservation.

18. Copa de Arbol Beach & Rainforest Resort

Before we get in to this resort, I just wanted to let you know that this resort includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is not all-inclusive. You will need to pay for alcoholic beverages separately. 

Location

Copa de Arbol Beach & Rainforest Resort is located in Drake Bay on the Osa Peninsula near Corcovado National Park

The Vibe

This is a good place to go if you would like a remote more friendly eco-accommodation option that is the perfect mix of jungle and beach. 

Amenities

Paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkel gear that guests can use. There are hiking trails, a beautiful beach with beach chairs, an infinity pool, and a jacuzzi. 

The beach has darker sand and is backed up by the jungle. It is the perfect place to relax or enjoy snorkeling. 

Off-Site Activities

We definitely suggest taking a day trip to Corcovado National Park if you are here. This is a great way to see a ton of wildlife with an experienced guide. 

Rooms

The accommodations here are bungalow-style villas. 

Some of the villas can sleep up to five guests. 

Every villa has a small private kitchen and amazing views. 

Dining

There is a nice open-air restaurant on the property where all meals are served. 

There is a focus on organic local ingredients. 

Also, the resort staff is happy to accommodate allergies and dietary needs.

As i mentioned above, alcohol is available but it is not included in the room rate.

19. Isla Chiquita Glamping Hotel

Location

Isla Chiquita is located on Isla Jesusita, a small island near Paquera (the town where the ferry lands on the Nicoya Peninsula).

The Vibe

This place has an unpretentious vibe of relaxed luxury. We love that it is a glamping resort.

That means that all accommodations are luxurious tents on raised platforms.

It is also the only option on this list which is on an island. 

Ammenities

The property features; transportation from their mainland parking lot, a pool, a walking trail, concierge services, and cabanas for relaxation.

Dining

The glamping hotel has to restaurants on the property.

Donde Tía Nora Restaurant serves fresh-caught seafood with seasonal, regional ingredients. 

Harry’s Bar offers delicious lunch options, tropical cocktails and a great wine and beer selection. 

Getting Here

From San Jose, the best way to get here is by take the ferry from Puntarenas. It is possible to take your rental car on the ferry or you can walk onto the ferry if you have taken a bus. 

Once on the other side, in Paquera, resort guests are offered complimentary round-trip transfers via the resort’s private water taxi, which operates from both Punta Cuchillos and the Paquera Ferry arrival platform, offering a quick 10-minute boat ride.

Isla Chiquita also provides complimentary parking at Punta Cuchillos, their mainland facilities situated about two miles away from Paquera.

20. SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge

The Location

SCP Corcovado Wilderness Lodge is located in San Pedrillo on the Osa Peninsula. This is about as close as you can possibly get to being in the Corcovado National Park without actually being inside of it. 

The Vibe

There is a whole new section of the lodge with brand new rooms (which are beautiful). 

The vibe is best described as rustic luxury. It’s perfect for a day of hiking and coming back to a place that allows luxury to meet nature. 

Transportation

The lodge is only accessible by boat. Round-trip transfers are included to/from the town of Sierpe.

Dining

The on-site restaurant is called Los Vitrales Here you can enjoy delicious meals in the casual elegance of the jungle dining room.

The chefs daily create a menu full of style and originality, combining the best traditional classics with locally available, fresh fruit, and vegetables.

Breakfast or dinner can be savored in the restaurant, at the poolside, or on your own private terrace.

For lunch and snacks during the day, you can dine in the restaurant or at the beach club if you’re by the pool.

Who We Suggest it For

This is a great place for anyone who is interested in exploring this remote corner of the country with a visit to Corcovado National Park. The all-inclusive feature is great for this area because there are not really any other restaurants nearby.

21. Occidental Tamarindo

Location

Occidental Tamarindo is located on Playa Langosta, just south of Tamarindo

Vibe

This resort is a bit outdated, but the price reflects that. It is good option if you would like an all-inclusive stay near Tamarindo.

Gym, aerobics and dance classes, entertainment programs for children and adults, live shows in the evenings, volleyball and football courts, tennis court, playground, use of the lounge and swimming pool areas

There are three restaurants and bars that serve a variety of cuisine including a Japanese and Italian restaurant.

22. CC Beach Resort

Location

CC Beach Resort is located in Playa Panama, just north of Playa Hermosa in Guanacaste. The Liberia International Airport is about 20 minutes away. 

Vibe

This is a great place to stay if you would like a resort stay that isn’t crazy expensive and is close to the Liberia Airport. The rooms and facilities are a bit outdated here. But, I think the location is great for fun nearby activities.

There are two restaurants and a bar on the property which serve a variety of specialties as buffet and a la carte.

23. Fiesta Resort

Location

Fiesta Resort is located in El Roble, near the city of Puntarenas

Vibe

I think this resort as a whole is decent. Keep in mind that this place is a bit outdated. The price reflects that. 

The downfall is really the location. The beach is definitely not the nicest in the country.

24. Villas Sol

Location

Villas Sol is located in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica

Vibe

This place is somewhat a somewhat outdated beach hotel. I wouldn’t call it a resort, because it is not overly fancy.

However, we actually stay here often because we love the location as a jumping-off point for day trips and we like that we can get a a large condo to travel with several friends. 

Amenities

Beach access, beach shuttle, multiple pools, daily and evening entertainment, Participate in a variety of activities led by the animation team including Yoga, Cardio, Aquagym, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, and use of the beachfront lounge chairs.

A delicious restaurant on the property serves excellent food with a focus on local ingredients. The bar serves fresh juices, homemade kombucha, delicious cocktails, and craft beers

26. Best Western Jaco

Location

Directly on the beach in Jaco, Costa Rica

The Vibe

The Best Western Jaco is a bit outdated. That being said, the price reflects that and is very reasonable. Jaco is also not our favorite beach in Costa Rica and not a place we really recommend for an extended stay. 

Basically, the vibe here is relaxed all-inclusive that is affordable. 

Amenities

Unlimited beverages, unlimited food, volleyball courts, direct beach access, swimming pool, evening entertainment, disco, children’s playground. 

Dining

There are three restaurants/ bars located on the property. These are:

Bar El Muelle

• Serves complimentary cocktails, beer, and various beverages.
• Offers non-alcoholic refreshments for kids.
• Located in front of the beach, making it a great spot for relaxation.

El Puerto Restaurant:

• Cuisine: Offers a choice of international cuisine and traditional Costa Rican dishes.
• Features: Buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Lobby Bar:

• Offers a wide variety of drinks, including tropical cocktails, fruit smoothies, sodas, and flavored shaved ices.

This is an entirely all-inclusive resort, so by default all reservations will include the all-inclusive service. 

27. Hotel Punta Leona

Location

Hotel Punta Leona is located in Herradura with direct access to Playa Blanca and Playa Mantas. This is one of the closest beaches from the San Jose Airport (and also both beaches are really nice).

The Vibe

This place has the feel of a somewhat outdated resort. The staff is generally geat, but don’t expect to be blown away by the place. It is really just a good option if you want to access the beaches. 

The Beaches

I think the main draw for staying here is having access to both beaches. 

Playa Blanca is one of our favorite beaches in Costa Rica, but it is not the easiest to access if you are not staying at the hotel. 

Playa Mantas is a really great beach for children, with calm waters and a gradual decline. 

Amenities

Access to both beaches, multiple swimming pools, access to the butterfly house, volleyball courts, evening entertainment, 5-a-side soccer fields, tennis courts, mini golf, outdoor gym, walking trails, running trails, underwater museum access, playground, and more!

There are three restaurants and one bar located throughout the property. 

Who It is Best For

We would suggest this hotel for families. Don’t expect a high end experience, this place is not that. However, it is a nice place to spend a few nights relaxing and enjoying the beaches and hotel amenities. 

Omne of the nice things here is that the have a variety of room options including 2 bedroom apartments. So, you can easily travel with a family and have enough space.

28. Aguila de Osa Rainforest Lodge

Location

Aguila de Osa Rainforest Lodge is located on the southern tip of Drake Bay near Corcovado National Park

I would say this place is perfect for nature lovers who are looking for a comfortable and inviting place to stay near Corcovado National Park. We love that all meals are included here because there are not many other restaurants around. 

The hotel has a bit of a rustic feel to it, but definitely not in a bad way. The staff do a great job of keeping it inviting and nice. 

Dining

There is a restaurant and bar on the property. The open-air restaurant serves gourmet food with an emphasis on local ingredients. Expect fresh fish and organic vegetables, with great views of the bay.

There are two airports in Costa Rica. These are the San Jose International Airport and Liberia International Airport.

Several of the all inclusive resorts are located in the Guanacaste Province. For these resorts, it is often more convenient to fly into Liberia International Airport.

Most of these resorts do not include transportation from the airport.

For certain areas of the country (such as resorts on the Osa Peninsula) it usually makes the most sense to fly into the San Jose Airport and then take a domestic flight.

Here are all the things we tend to consider before selecting an all-inclusive resort experience in Costa Rica.

Reviews

Before booking anything we definitely suggest reading the reviews, both positive and negative.

We find that sometimes a resort will have a low review score, but once we read the reviews we see that there may be only a few negative reviews and it is sometimes over very nit-picky things such as “the coffee wasn’t as strong as I like.”

On the flip side of that, read the positive reviews and make sure they sound legit. we have seen resorts before in which the reviews sound to be manufactured by the employees.

Amenities

When staying at an all-inclusive resort amenities are so important!

In Costa Rica you will definitely want to stay at a place with a nice pool.

If staying near the beach, check if the resort has beach access and private beach chairs with umbrellas for guests to use.

If you are looking for an all-inclusive Costa Rica resort with a golf course, fishing tours etc. that is also possible to find.

Just keep in mind that some amenities (such as spa services) may not be included in the all-inclusive price. It is sometimes possible to purchase vacation packages that include some bonus services.

Rooms

Check out the different room options and if they are suitable for your needs.

For example, if you are traveling with kids you might see rooms that say “sleeps four” but with the layout it might actually be cramped with two children.

The Vibe

Check to make sure the vibe of the resort aligns with what you are looking for.

If you are traveling as a family you will might prefer a bigger resort that can provide something for everyone.

Our Opinion on All-Inclusive Resorts in Costa Rica

We think that a relaxing trip to a resort is almost always a great experience.

That being said, we think that Costa Rica is such an amazing country that it deserves to be explored. We suggest balancing your all-inclusive stay with some exploration as well.

For example, maybe spend a few nights at an all-inclusive beach resort and then rent a car and head to the jungle for a few days to get a different view and perspective of the country.

Another thing to keep in mind is that all-inclusive resorts in Costa Rica often aren’t very budget-friendly. You will likely pay a lot more than you would pay at a resort in the Caribbean or in Mexico.

The service and experience will likely be amazing, but it definitely comes at a price.
